I have been studying these LED bulbs for a couple of weeks and my conclusion is that they are great news! I acknowledge the problems with incandescent bulbs but refuse to buy CFL's for many reasons, including the fact that they contain hazardous materials. (I have a "bring a minimum amount of hazardous materials" rule for my household.) And did I mention that in anticipation of the outlawing of incandescent bulbs many companies will no longer be manufacturing them. Yay, Terry.
